The Blind Side!

On my blog you may often see movie reviews as I find film to be major in the voice of inspiration. This is my first movie review and although there are many others I would rather enjoy writing about, I can’t help but start with this one.
The “Blind Side” is the life story about current Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher. Native to Memphis, Tennessee, Oher grew up in the projects of the area and was eventually taken in by now adoptive parents Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy. The movie may portray all the events that happened in Oher’s life to get him to the point where he is now but I believe there is more to it than meets the eye.

In fact, I feel that God puts messages in certain films to show us how great he can be and exactly what he does in our life that makes his presence known. From the beginning of the movie you already sense that God is present in this young man's life. From the generous man who introduces him to the coach of his soon-to-be Christian academy to the teachers who help Oher with his classroom struggles. But I think that most would agree that the selfless character Leigh Anne Tuohy is the most significant influence on this mans life. In an unhesitant manner, Leigh Anne takes Michael Oher in and provides for him what he never had: a bed, a room, clothes, food, and most of all...a family. As Oher becomes a member of the family it is not only his life that changes drastically, but it is more Leigh Anne's life that undergoes a construction of faith.

The movies shows us how God amazingly places people in our lives to simply guide our path. God placed Leigh Anne and her family in Michael's life to save him from what he was growing up in and help him to become the humble man he is today. But God also placed Michael Oher in Leigh Anne's life to show her how much of a driving force his love can be in a family's life. In the movie Leigh Anne thanks God for her new son and praises him for the blessings that she had been given.

The main idea here is that old cliche that God works in mysterious ways. He saves a young man by placing a loving family in his life to help guide his path of success. God places people in our lives everyday to do the same. It is up to us to recognize when and where God is doing this. We must keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open to allow God's influence into our life. For when we do this we allow God to work in our life for the general good of his purpose for us. So the next time you shake a new hand, help another soul, or greet a new face...don't take it for granted. Embrace the blessings that God blesses you with in the flesh. They may be the next step on your path to a fulfilled, successful, blessed life.

We're Having Fish Tonight!!!!

My father told me a story of a woman associated with us at our church. She said that when she was little she was raised with many brothers and sisters in an extremely poor environment. But even though the family was poor they were rich in the love and spirit of God through the teachings and values of their grandparents.
So when they were small, she told us that the grandma would always come home and say something to the effect of, “We’re having fish tonight!!!” And the children would shout with excitement and cheer as they heard the good news. But the income was so low that the grandparents could not possibly afford a whole fish fry for the entire family. So what grandma would do was make refried beans and shape them to look like a fish. The innocent children would take delight and appreciation in the “creativity” and love of grandma’s cooking.

The love of God is the most powerful love there is. It forms a bond and a happiness that can’t be broken. And know that though we may not always be blessed in areas of finance or luxury, the love of the almighty God is what truly makes us rich. The love of God is what gives hope, brings joy, and gets us through the trying times and allows us to celebrate in the victorious time.

So allow God to dwell in your heart. Let him in and show the world what God can truly do through us. Let the love of God take over all situations and through him you will be able to get through the toughest times in life.

God Will Provide!

Okay...

So one time my parents came to Austin to pick up some stuff to take back home. We went to go eat and talked and then they brought me back to my dorm. So my lil bros and I got my stuff and went to put the stuff in the truck.

When i got back i asked my dad for some cash ($4) so I could do my laundry. He said he didn’t have any on him so i said "ok" and "its cool, ill see you Thursday" and walked off.

On the way to my dorm, my dad calls me and I head back to the truck...
My mom says she has a dollar and some quarters, and my dad found some money in the ash trey...When we amounted the money it came out to $3.50. 50 cents short right...well my bro says, "Oh...I have 50 cents..."
I thought...well then there are the $4 i need. I then say bye and walk away...

As I walked away, my dad rolls down his window and says, “You should have asked for $6 dollars...God would still have provided!"

The smile on my face stretched from ear to ear as a tear rolled down the side. The fact of the matter is that, dad was right...all you have to do is ask God and he will provide! No matter the size of what you need God will give you what you need and then some more just because he can. The key is to be a good and faithful servant to his will. All this in mind; keep the faith and know that God is in control.

I thought I just might share this with everyone to regenerate their spirits and faith in tough times and share some LUV!!!

God is Love,

Being Legit

Being Legit: what is it?
In the book of Romans, in the Holy Bible, it explains to you how to live a Christian life. It equips you with all the tools you need to live right by God's will. In my opinion, the book of Romans provides the schematic for a faith based life under God's will. Being Legit refers to the same concept. Whether you believe in God or not, being legit means to try and live a good life no matter what. Legitimacy literally means to be in accordance with established rules, principles, or standards. It is up to you to choose who's or what standards you follow. I encourage you to follow a standard that a consensus of all peoples would find morally correct. I boldly declare to you right now that I myself have chosen God's standard. This is my life, I want to do right by God all the way through and praise his name in everything I do. My motive is to live right so that I may one day reach fulfillment of a full life at the end of the road. These are my thoughts on being legit.

But the purpose of my title is to inspire all who read my blogs to try and do right. I encourage you to be the person who helps push the car that is stuck in the middle of the road when it is stalled. Or try and be the person who gives a little change when they see the homeless person on the street. Or to just be the person who holds the door open for people, smiles all the time, and greets everyone with a positive attitude. I would like for you to be the positive influence in the world. If we could get everyone on track to live right, and always look at the bright side, we may lower the negativity in the world by a significant amount.

In closing, i want you to know that there is NO LIMIT to what you can accomplish. When you have a positive attitude and a legitimate outlook you can do anything that you set your mind to.

Happy Trails People!

Until next time,
Benny
